Quercus rugosa, commonly known as the Netleaf Oak, is a broad-leaved tree in the beech and oak family Fagaceae. It is native to southern North America.

Water Use

Will survive, once established, with little to additional irrigation but will also tolerate landscape irrigation.

Conditions When It Thrives

Will thrive in most all of CA coastal and interior valley climate zones and will actually take a fair amount of cold.

Why They Love It

Beautiful specimens are growing in Bolinas CA, so very versatile. I call it the Magnolia that doesn’t make a mess. Large leaves and same gestalt as Magnolia. It’s the oak that looks like a Magnolia without the messy white flowers.

Eucalyptus spathulata, commonly known as Swamp Mallee, Narrow Leaved Gimlet or Swamp Gimlet is a species of Mallee that is endemic to Western Australia. It has a dense crown, smooth, satin-like bark, glossy green, linear leaves, flower buds in groups of three or seven, white flowers and cup-shaped to conical fruit.
