Meredith French specializes in habitat and rehabilitation gardening and has been active with the UCCE Master Gardener program in San Diego County since 2005. Meredith is an occasional contributor to California Garden and Golden Gardens. Between 2011 and 2014, both California Garden Clubs, Inc. and the Pacific Region of National Garden Clubs, Inc. awarded Meredith first place for her articles on habitat gardens and other topics.
Carol Moholt is a former Executive Director of Pacific Horticulture. Carol has always gardened near the Pacific coast, as a girl growing up along the banks of the Columbia River in Oregon and as an adult in the San Francisco Bay area. She is most happy living beside the rolling coastal hills of her California home but misses the lush greenery of her northwest roots. An employee in Silicon Valley’s Apple, Inc. for nearly 20 years, she brought a keen appreciation for design and innovation to the Pacific Horticulture community.
Marilee Kuhlmann is a landscape consultant, sustainable garden designer, and president of Urban Water Group. She has participated in award-winning rainwater harvesting projects, LEED projects, and has had gardens featured in Sunset, Pacific Horticulture, and the LA Times. Marilee is the lead on our 4-part Water-Sensitive Landscape Design (WSLD) series commencing with this issue.
Martin Grantham has worked for all of the major botanical gardens in Central California and is currently Greenhouse Manager at San Francisco State University. He is especially interested in the Fynbos flora of South Africa’s Western Cape, where he often travels to study plants in the wild. Martin has grown a broad range of characteristic as well as some of the most obscure species of that region’s flora.
Linda Bresler is a landscape designer specializing in beautiful low-maintenance gardens with year-round color. A resident of Poway, California, Linda works with homeowners throughout San Diego County, as well as private residential developments, and San Diego State University. She is a frequent speaker at the San Diego Spring and Fall Home/Garden Shows and other regional events.
Sairus is a life-long tree enthusiast and a passionate gardener. Ron Bracewell’s Trees of Stanford and Environs and Matt Ritter’s A Californian’s Guide to the Trees among Us have been particular inspirations (and are almost entirely to blame for his eucalyptophilia). in how they interweave botanical minutiae with trees’ stories (and are almost entirely to blame for his eucalyptophilia). He has been a guest lecturer and led tree tours for a Stanford course on trees. He has served on the board of Canopy, Palo Alto’s urban forest non-profit, and teaches tree identification there. At Pacific Horticulture, Sairus sits on the board, proofs and researches the plant names for the magazine, and recently served as guest co-editor for an issue focused on the urban canopy. He has embarked on revising and expanding the extensive online Trees of Stanford https://trees.stanford.edu/ project. Sairus works in font technology.
Jane Edberg is an art professor at Gavilan College where she currently teaches art appreciation, design, and photography. She has a Masters of Fine Arts with an emphasis in Photography from the University of California, Davis. Jane has exhibited her work nationally and internationally.
Andy Lipkis is a practical visionary who has dedicated his life to healing the environment and improving the lives of individuals and communities. In 1973, at the age of 18, he founded TreePeople, an organization that inspires and supports the people of Los Angeles to come together to plant and care for trees, harvest the rain, and renew depleted landscapes.
