Supernature
Supernature makes breezy, naturey gardens for individuals and the public. The best compliment I can receive from someone is that the garden reminds them of being somewhere special in nature. Supernature seeks to do the most with the least effort and cost, prioritize maintenance and ease, and design for now and the future, knowing that like people, landscapes need to evolve over time. I love to work with clients who want to take part in the garden’s fruition and who want to steward the garden over time. The best gardens are a team effort..

What's the best gardening advice you ever received?
Let it be an iterative process. You can’t install a garden and walk away.
Where do you find Inspiration?
Beauty is important. Though, the beauty of interest to me isn’t the tone of gravel for a driveway (though it always is), nor is it about the chicest chaise lounge for your patio (though I support that too). The beauty I want to give the main stage to is less complicated. It is less designed. It is the pacific chorus frog finding your new habitat pond. It is those frogs’ babies. It is the frog chorus you hear later that summer as the next generation matures. It is your discovering your new frog friends taking shade under a fern. The kind of beauty I’m talking about is all those sort of moments. And it is better described not in terms of beauty.
What are you most proud of?
Working on public projects where we are experimenting with creating native meadows from seed. It is a tricky process, not well-tested in the Pacific Northwest, with potential to create super habitat-rich (and lovely) flowering meadows.
