Haven Kiers

Haven Kiers is a lecturer in landscape architecture at UC Davis and the special projects manager at the UC Davis Arboretum. She received her bachelor’s degree from Brown University and her Master of Landscape Architecture from UC Berkeley and has worked as a landscape architect, a city and environmental planner, and a consultant. Haven specializes in green roof design and has spent nearly 10 years teaching students about green roofs and other green infrastructure.


Sean Hogan

Sean Hogan has been involved in horticulture since about 18 months of age and seriously since the age of three. He served as horticulturist at the UC Botanical Garden at Berkeley and is now owner of Cistus Design and Nursery, specializing in plants from all over the world, especially western natives, and designing public and private gardens on the West Coast and beyond. Sean is the author of Flora: A Gardener’s Encyclopedia and Trees for All Seasons: Broadleaf Evergreens for Temperate Climates, both from Timber Press.


Kendra Hauser

Kendra Hauser is the Landscape Exhibits Assistant at the California Academy of Sciences. Together with her colleague, Alan Good, they maintain the 2.5-acre living roof and 5 acres of landscape surrounding the building. Kendra became interested in plant ecology and sustainable landscaping while majoring in Environmental Studies at the University of California, Santa Cruz. Her passion for the natural world has led to jobs at California native plant nurseries, working on organic farms both locally and abroad, teaching youth environmental education, as well as studying salmon migration and testing water quality along the Monterey Bay. She is an accredited Green Roof Professional and certified Bay Friendly Landscape Technician.


Mark Fusco

Mark Fusco works as a Green Roof Consultant/Architectural Sales for Bison Innovative Products. Mark began his career as a Senior Horticulturist at Denver Botanic Gardens where he focused on the use of Western native plants, and alpine and drought tolerant Asian flora in urban landscapes and green roofs. Mark is a founding member of Growwest, a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering regional dialogue and encouraging green roof policy, and forwarding the design, construction, and performance of green roofs.


Karla Dakin

Karla Dakin established K. Dakin Design 1997, specializing in ecologically sound landscape architecture with a particular emphasis on incorporating native plant life. Dakin has completed a wide array of projects around the United States, including the roof garden for the Museum of Contemporary Art in Denver, Colorado, and the green roof for the Los Angeles Museum of the Holocaust. Logan Bingle

Logan Bingle is a landscape designer in Seattle, Washington. He graduated from the University of Oregon with a Bachelors of Landscape Architecture in 2012. His passion is exploring unique places where culture and nature fuse to form superb gardens and landscapes. He documents his horticultural adventures in sketches, writing and design on his blog and as the editor for the Washington ASLA newsletter and blog.
