Each year, Lakewold Gardens hosts a huge work party to provide summer maintenance for their rhododendron plants. Volunteers from around the Sound will converge on the property to prune, deadhead, and generally spruce up these beautiful, spring-blooming plants. This 10 acre historic estate is home to over 250 species of rhododendrons with over 900 individual rhodie plant.
We invite you to join us! Whether you are a member, regular volunteer, or just in the neighborhood, we need your help. No previous experience is required, and there is no ongoing commitment. Staff will be on site to instruct and supervise the work. Children 12 years and older are also welcome with a parent or guardian. In return for helping, volunteers at the work party receive free admission to the gardens on Deadhead Party day. Breakfast is also provided.
