 A symposium presented by the Garden Conservancy and the Los Angeles County Arboretum. It is part of “Natural Discourse: Artists, Architects, Scientists & Poets in the Garden,” an ongoing series of symposia, publications, and site-specific art installations that explore the connections among art, architecture, and science within the framework of the botanical garden.

John Carpenter, interactive digital artist, on interactive digital works based on natural systems
Roger Handgarter, Ph.D., Chancellor’s Professor of Biology, Indiana University, on light and the process of photosynthesis
Christian Thornton, glass artist, founder of Studio Xaquixe, Oaxaca, Mexico, on glass-blowing, energy harvesting, and agaves
Susan Rossi Wilcox, retired curator of Harvard University’s Blaschka Glass Flower Collection, on the renowned collection
Shirley Alexandra Watts, artist, garden designer, and curator of “Natural Discourse” series
