The Marin Master Gardener Tomato Market and Information Exchange will feature prized heirloom and hybrid tomato plants selected for their exceptional taste, superior growth habits, disease resistance and their performance in Marin’s microclimates.

The plants are grown from seed by Marin Master Gardeners at the Falkirk Greenhouse in San Rafael.

New offerings this year include some very special heirloom varieties:
‘Aunt Ruby’s German Green’, Winner of the 2003 Heirloom Garden Show’s taste test is considered to be the tastiest green tomato available
‘Paul Robeson’ won “Best of Show “at the Carmel Tomato Fest and many call it the “finest tomato in existence”
‘Oaxacan Jewel’ is a beautiful two tone heirloom tomato with a rich fruity taste
‘Flamme’ is a French heirloom that is similar to the favorite cherry tomato ‘Sun Gold’ but with larger fruit

Many old favorites return to the market like ‘New Big Dwarf’, a great container plant since it only grows to 2 feet but produces large beefsteak tomatoes; ‘San Marzano’ plum tomatoes that are superior for making sauces. Everyone’s favorite cherry tomatoes, ‘Sun Gold’, ‘Chocolate Cherry’ and ‘Sweet 100’ will all be available. Check out the Descriptions of all 17 varieties offered this year in the “2015 Tomato Descriptions” on the Marin Master Gardener website at www.marinmg.org

Information Exchange: Marin Master Gardener Advisors will be on hand to answer questions and help with tomato selection, growth requirements and planting techniques. They will also be available to provide handouts and cover other relevant topics such as container gardening, irrigation needs, pest management, scaffolding and pruning and soil preparation.
