Filoli Centennial-Maintaining an Historic Landscape

In honor of the year of the Garden, Filoli will be featuring a series of garden lectures to inspire a deeper appreciation of the incredible gem in our own backyard.  For many people, historic preservation is defined by the large, sexy, restoration projects designed to bring back a neglected and forlorn structure or landscape. While restoration is an important piece in the preservation process, in an historic formal garden like Filoli, the biggest and most challenging piece of the process is the preservation maintenance done on a regular basis by professional horticulturists.

This lecture by Filoli’s Director of Property Operations will give you insight into what it takes to preserve the design, plants, horticultural techniques, and cultural traditions of this historic estate.  Refreshments in the service courtyard from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Lecture begins at 6:00 pm in the Visitor and Education Center.

Cost:  Members Free; Non–Members $20
