This series of three classes will introduce you to the puzzling yet challenging world of the Asteraceae, a.k.a. composite, sunflower, or daisy family, renowned for its diversity, size, and success. We’ll focus on flower detail through microscopes, the concept of tribes and their recognition, and practice keying and identifying in the field. The first two sessions will take place at the Garden with PowerPoint presentations and walks through the Garden followed by keying. The third session will be in a local Bay Area destination to see a variety of species growing in nature. Please bring a lunch.
