Bay Area’s Dazzling Dragonflies

Come learn about the colorful and fascinating dragonflies of our Bay Area. These ancient creatures—they were on Earth before the dinosaurs—have a very sophisticated and unique life cycle. We’ll learn about their biology, behaviors, and how to identify them in a morning PowerPoint presentation. Then we’ll go out to eat lunch by Tilden’s pond and practice identification and observe behaviors while moving around the grounds. Come meet the Cardinal Meadowhawk, Desert Firetail, Exclamation Damsel, and Blue Dasher, along with Flame, Eight-spotted, and Widow Skimmers—and more!  Please bring a lunch and binoculars (close-focus are best) and wear a hat.
