Oakland, CA – Imagine the sunset glistening over Lake Merritt, as several winding acres of garden come to life with electric fireflies in the trees, artistic video projections, lanterns and lighted glass, all created by local artists. Special features of this year’s festival include sculptures from American Steel Studios, Flaming Art Cars, illuminated dancers and fire-spinning performances. The Gardens at Lake Merritt, Oakland’s public botanical gardens in Lakeside Park, will be filled with these and other surprises during the 3rd Annual Autumn Lights Festival
This is an opportunity to see the Gardens at Lake Merritt in a new and unexpected way- at night and filled with enchanting illuminated art installations. Guests can take in the outdoor art as well as an indoor gallery featuring artist works for sale. Music and sound installations fill the night air while beer & wine, cocktail and food vendors will add to the festivities. Valet bike parking will be available.
This family-friendly event is a fundraiser for the Friends of the Gardens at Lake Merritt, which operates under the 501(c)3 sponsorship of the Oakland East Bay Garden Center, Inc. Proceeds of this festival will be used to make improvements to the Gardens, including the construction of a new garden entrance on Bellevue Avenue.
